The work of more than 20 recent visual arts graduates from the West Midlands’ five university ‘art schools’ has been selected for a multi-sited exhibition in Birmingham next month, designed to showcase high quality, innovative work by the best new talent in the region.

Birmingham Museums Trust has been successful in raising the funding to acquire an original writing table commissioned by Matthew Boulton for his daughter Anne (1768-1829) which was formerly part of the furnishings at Soho House in Handsworth.

A magnificent ‘fortress turban’ is to go on display at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery in the New Year, giving visitors a rare chance to explore the story of the Sikh Turban; , a distinctive symbol of Sikh faith and history. The fortress turban is on loan from the British Museum following a successful exhibition at the Museum in 2011.
