In mid 2009 Birmingham’s Museum Collections Centre was approached by The Austin Counties Car Club, who asked if we would be willing to display the famous ‘Indianapolis’ Atlantic A90 car on their stand at the Classic Car Show, NEC Birmingham.
After some reassurance regarding transportation, we agreed to their request, and the vehicle went on display from 13th – 15th of November.
The show was a great success and saw record numbers of visitors who thought the inclusion of this original record breaking ‘historic’ vehicle a fantastic contribution by Birmingham Museums.
Visitors were delighted to discuss not only the vehicles history and care – but also about the work of the Museum Services as a whole.
The final bonus to the event came when the Austin Counties Car Club won the ‘Best Medium sized Car Club Stand at the Show’ – a wonderful achievement.
This vehicle can be seen at the MCC on one of our Open Day events on Monday 4th May or Sunday 22nd August. activities for further information.
