26th July 2012
Join us on the steps of Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery at 8am on Friday 27th July to take part in All the Bells.
Bring your bell or bells and join family and friends to ring for 3 minutes beginning at 8.12am.
Work No. 1197: All the bells in a country rung as quickly and as loudly as possible for three minutes by Turner Prize-winning artist and musician Martin Creed is a London 2012 Festival commission and will be performed by you.
Anyone can take part by ringing any bell whatsoever for the three minutes from 8.12am to 8.15am. Watch this video to find out about artist Martin Creed's vision for this work.
Everyone who takes part is able to download a free exclusive Martin Creed ringtone.
Please join us at 08:12 on 27th July to experience millions of bells ringing out across the country in order to mark this historical moment and to celebrate the beginning of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The bell ringing will take place at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery's main entrance surrounded by the very colourful knitted art installation by Sara Fowles which has been commissioned especially for London 2012 inspired by the visit of both Jamaican and American Olympic teams to Birmingham.
If you can't join us at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery look at the All The Bells website to see where there is an All the Bells event near to you - or stage your own!
