Heritage Open Days - Free Admission and Special Events

Heritage Open Days - Free Admission and Special Events

8th September 2011

Free admission at Birmingham's Community Museums for Heritage Opens Days Thursday September 8th to Sunday September 11th.

Heritage Open Days celebrates England’s fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission.

Every year on four days in September, buildings of every age, style and function throw open their doors, ranging from castles to factories, town halls to tithe barns, parish churches to Buddhist temples. It is a once-a-year chance to discover hidden architectural treasures and enjoy a wide range of tours, events and activities which bring to life local history and culture.

Birmingham Community Museums will be open free of charge from Thursday September 8th to Sunday September 11th. There are also free events taking place at the museums. Highlights include:

Friday 9th September - Tour by Costumed Guide at Soho House

Saturday 10th September - Attic Tours at Blakesley Hall

Sunday September 11th  - 'Worlds Apart - Parallel Lives' at Aston Hall. Family day celebrating Aston's past and present.

Sunday 11th September - '1611' - a fun theatrical celebration of the King James Bible at Blakesley Hall.
