Immerse yourself in over 500 years of life, passion, strife and achievement. In the iconic new 'Birmingham, its people, its history' galleries visitors can explore the city's global heritage from medieval times and the industrial revolution, through to the World Wars - to the technology-led life of the 21st century.
These are not just galleries - they are an experience which brings the city into sharp focus and reflects how the people of Birmingham and its industries have shaped not only the city, but the world as we know it today.
The galleries' dramatic architecture and imaginative displays can inspire visitors of all ages. There are models, interactive displays and hands-on activities to captivate families. You can design your own 18th century trade card or become a Birmingham Air Raid Warden in the Second World War.
These £8.9m refurbished galleries, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, are a must-see for Birmingham people and visitors to the city who want to discover the fascinating global history of Birmingham.
The galleries are free and are located on the 3rd floor at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. They are accessible via lift access at Edmund Street and pushchair storage facilities and visitor toilets are available adjacent to the galleries.
