We have a lively programme for adults including regular guided tours, talks, study days, adult workshops and short courses. These take place throughout the year and are very popular.
From Anglo-Saxon soldiers to Bug Zoos via art and craft sessions of all types we offer a varied family activity programme throughout the year.
Available on some weekends and throughout all holiday week days. Find us in the Learning Zone or in the Activity Zone. Most activities are drop in and have a small charge.
Look out for our regular Museum Collections Centre Open Days, Spooky Halloween events at many of our sites, and Singles Night and Santa Claus and the Nativity Trail, all at
See What's On for details of the events programme and family activity programme.
Our learning sessions offer opportunities for pupils to find out more about history and art with staff trained in Museum education.
Pupils will all have access to real historical artefacts and can take part in practical workshops that link closely to the collections and the National Curriculum. Sessions are also offered alongside our temporary exhibition programme. We are able to provide special Discovery Days, guided tours or bespoke sessions – please contact us to discuss.
We have a teachers’ forum that meets once a term and offer occasional special days for teachers on 'How to get the most out of a museum visit'.
Sessions currently cost £3 per head but these are subject to change. Bespoke sessions and Discovery Days carry different charges.
Our websites are in the process of change but you can visit the Schools Liaison website for resources to help your visit. You can also find out more about our Loans Box service – prices are also subject to change.
