This tour tells the intriguing story of the triangular relationship between John Ruskin, his protégée Millais and thier bride Effie.
Ruskin, a respected academic and art critic chose the charming Effie as his wife, however his behaviour towards her soon had eyebrows raised and tongues wagging in Victorian society. Effie, a woman before her time, bravely moved to have the marriage annulled, placing her close relationship with Millais, the darling of London’s art scene and a close friend of Ruskin’s, under very close scrutiny.
The resulting events created a scandal that kept society gossips busy, filled the newspapers and ultimately ruined reputations.
With tour guide, James McCormick.
