|Roll up, roll up and explore the science behind the thrills and spills of the circus. Find out why jugglers love gravity, how clowns use the force like a Jedi and why unicyclists need to keep moving to stay still. It’s science but not as you may know it!!! This is the first of a five part Circus Academy across the sites of Birmingham Museums. Join us for a Summer of circus skills and performances and uncover some of the hidden treasures within the city.
|Come to the incredible Aston Hall and experience free-running, tricking, tumbling, break dancing and acro-balancing. Learn how to do it from the professionals, see some incredible performances and maybe even take part in your own show as part of our audience showcase.
|As the founding members of the Lunar Society juggled ideas, you will learn how to juggle, spin and balance. From juggling to poi to plate spinning, you will learn some of the classics of the circus world and show off your new found skills to the world!
|The opening of Wired Up Gardens will begin with a surreal moving statue garden, with Tight Wire, Slack Line, Globe and Rola Bola. See how the professionals do it, then learn the same skills yourself in the workshops and maybe even share your successes with the audience.
|Join us at the Collections Centre for the finale to the Circus Academy and an event full of drama and intrigue. See the professionals take show off their skills on the German Wheel, learn how to unicycle or hula hoop, and see the incredible finale from CircusMASH.
During the afternoon, there will be a prize draw for people who have taken part in at least 3 of the Circus Academy venues.
