New Art West Midlands

New Art West Midlands

Location: Birmingham Museum

14th February 2014 - 18th May 2014

An exhibition of impressive new contemporary art in a grand historic gallery. Work by artists includes Gregory Dunn, whose piece Better than Sex uses an embellished Ordnance Survey map to reflect on human responses to the natural landscape and Lucy Hutchinson, whose chinoiserie wallpaper and self-portrait photography examines class stereotypes in the UK and Hong Kong.

Taking place across four galleries in the West Midlands, New Art West Midlands 2014 showcases exciting new work by some of the best artists graduating from art schools in the region. The series of exhibitions will be a celebration of the most innovative graduate painting, sculpture, printmaking and film to be created across the region, with a variety of artistic approaches, influences and ideas.

New Art West Midlands 2014 is a Turning Point West Midlands initiative in partnership with Birmingham City University, Coventry University, Staffordshire University, University of Wolverhampton & University of Worcester.
