Saturday Arts Club!

Saturday Arts Club!

Location: Birmingham Museum

24th May 2014 - 24th May 2014

Our new Saturday Arts Club for children aged 5-11 is a chance for children (and their parents) to experience working with real artists and creative practitioners. Children will be able to explore their creativity under the gentle guidance of Ruth Radcliffe and be inspired by the lovely works in our exhibitions and displays.

This week we will be making architectural relief panels based on BMAG's plaster casts from ancient monuments.

To celebrate the 2014 Birmingham Architecture Festival, we're looking at the architectural marvels of the ancient world. After learning about at the casts in the history galleries, we'll create our own by casting plaster of paris and using modroc to make a decorative frieze fit for an emperor.

Children can attend just one or all of the sessions, we don't take advance booking but we do expect participants to be able to stay for most of the session. The sessions run from 10.30 -12.30.

Please note -  tickets for children (accompanying adults free if they want to stay) are £5 per head from the learning zone at the start of the session.

We will be offering the participants the opportunity to work towards the Explore or Discover Arts Award as part of these sessions.
