Our new Saturday Arts Club for children aged 5-11 is a chance for children (and their parents) to experience working with real artists and creative practitioners. Children will be able to explore their creativity under the gentle guidance of Ruth Radcliffe and be inspired by the lovely works in our exhibitions and displays.
This session will introduce children to work by contemporary artists in a fun, relaxed way. and we will be making recycled paper inspired by Morna Lockie-Anrig's installation for the New Art West Midlands exhibition.
Learn how to make recycled paper and add different colours and textures with artist Benny Semp. We'll start by making a pulp with paper scraps, then learn how to flatten and drain it until it becomes a new piece of paper again. There are all sorts of colours and textures you can create by mixing different materials into your paper pulp, so you'll have a beautiful artwork to take home as well as an amazing creative experience.
Children can attend just one or all of the sessions, we don't take advance booking but we do expect participants to be able to stay for most of the session. The sessions run from 10.30 -12.30.
Please note - tickets for children (accompanying adults free if they want to stay) are £5 per head from the learning zone at the start of the session.
We will be offering the participants the opportunity to work towards the Explore or Discover Arts Award as part of these sessions.
