A comprehensive guide to what's happening at Birmingham's museums.
Location: Sarehole Mill
19th May 2013 - 19th May 2013
Sarehole Mill is a working water corn mill and grinding of wheat takes place on Sundays and most Wednesdays. Please ring the mill to check if you set out especially to see the mill working as due to water shortage it is possible that some days the waterwheel cannot be operated.
Milling at Sarehole Mill is the responsibility of a team of volunteer millers. The volunteers have been trained by a professional miller and are keen to use their new skill to transform Sarehole into a working and flour producing mill. However, to ensure a consistent quality of the stoneground breadflour produced at Sarehole, we feel we need a few more weeks to get used to the machinery and millstones. Only when satisfied with the final product (flour will be regularly tested by keen home bakers), will the breadflour be sold from the shop at the mill. Thanks in advance for your patience!
