Creative Photography Day

Location: Museum Collections Centre

A day designed for people who enjoy photography at any level and on cameras, tablets or your phone! 10.30 - 4.30. Tickets are £10 per adult and £5 per student (we will need to see your student id card on the day).

Do you enjoy taking snaps on your phone? Got a camera and don't make use of all its functions? Want to bring a tripod and spend time taking photos of our amazing collections? Want to see how you can make atmospheric films on a budget? This day will cater for all those needs and more as we open up our stores to photographers or every level.

The day will include presentations from local photographers and artists who have used our collections in creative ways. They will also be on hand during the day to help and advise you, whether you use a phone, a camera or a tablet on how to get the most out of your device. 

The following presentations will run on the day  - please note we will get you to sign up for them on the day and will ensure that everyone gets to at least two presentations if they wish:

Nettie Edwards is a Mobile Artist and Photographer. this means she uses her iPhone and iPad to shoot photographs and make digital collages. In this presentation, she's going to share some of her

techniques and apps, and hope to inspire you to use your phone to unleash the fantastic creative resources presented by Birmingham Museum's collections!

  An introduction to Lo-Fi, budget film making - learn how to use anything from an iPhone to a DSLR to make a short film on an almost zero budget. Learn tips and tricks to make your film look more professional or like "found footage" depending on your preference. Bring a tripod and small torch/ video light if you've got them, if you haven't don't worry
 

The Museum Cave

A presentation on the Museum Cave animation project that has recently taken place as a partnership between the MCC, Juneau Projects and local schools. Presentation of the film and project by Julia Kirby, Learning Manager at BMAG

 

Chris Keenan aka The Prime Objective

We are pleased to announce that Chris Keenan will also be on hand all day to help participants get creative with photography! He will be using light and lighting techniques in particular.

 Helen Brown

Helen Brown is an artist and video producer. Along with other techniques she uses video and sound in her work to explore methods of presentation and interpretation of artworks. Helen will be on hand during the day.

Tickets are £10 per head and £5 per student (with a current student ID which we will ask to see on the day).
