Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery

Do you have guided tours at BMAG?

Yes we have regular guided tours at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery (BMAG).

Public tours are offered on the following days: Thursdays 1pm, Saturdays 2.30pm and Sunday 2.30pm.

Our curators also offer gallery talks at 1pm on the third Tuesday of the month until October 2013. Please see the What's On section for more details.

Is there a charge? 

Yes the tours cost £3.00 per head.  Tickets are available on the day at the vestibule reception desk, with tour groups meeting the guide in the Round Room. 

How long do the tours last?

These tours last for approximately 45 minutes but this can vary – visitors are welcome to discuss this with the guide on the day.

I'm part of a society, could a a large number of us come along on a tour?  

No, these tours are for individuals and small groups only. If your group or society would like a tour please enquire about a private tour.

Can I book a private tour?

Private tours are designed for larger, organised groups, and are available on request.  If you are thinking about organising a booked tour at BMAG, or have queries about one that has been arranged, please read the Guided Tours information before contacting us directly.

Museum Collection Centre

Do you have guided tours at the MCC?

No, we previously had guided tours but we are now offering a free open afternoon on the last Friday of the month (excluding December) from 1.00 – 3.30pm.  Spaces are still limited to small groups and individuals, and need to be reserved.  This type of visit will allow visitors to explore by themselves, and also to speak with knowledgeable museum staff along the way.

Can I book a private tour?

Yes, we can offer private tours of the main warehouse and extension areas of the MCC on request and subject to availability. Please read the Guided Tours information before contacting us directly.

Exhibitions

Are the exhibitions at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery free?

It is free to enter Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the vast majority of what is on show is free to see. We do also have paying exhibitions. These are usually in the Gas Hall. The price to enter is advertised on the website and on leaflets.
