Wheelchair and Pushchair Access to the Gas Hall

Wheelchair and Pushchair Access to the Gas Hall

5th January 2011

Access to " Poetry of Drawing" in Gas Hall 29th Jan - 11th May 2011

A new passenger lift is being installed at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and until works are completed in late May 2011 alternative access arrangements to the Gas Hall for visitors with impaired mobility will be in place for the Poetry of Drawing exhibition.

From street level there are two short flights of stairs to climb to reach the exhibition space. Visitors unable to use the stairs are advised to contact our duty manager in advance of their visit on 0121 464 4335 or email: alistair.corrigan@birmingham.gov.uk so that arrangements can be made to assist you on arrival. Escorted access into the exhibition will be arranged that will involve passage through an inner court yard of the building and transfer from ground floor to exhibition level in a goods lift. An extra 15 minutes should be allowed at the start and end of your visit to allow for this transfer route.

Please be aware that in the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as mechanical failure of the goods lift, it may not be possible to facilitate access to the exhibition at the time of your visit.

Please be assured that we will resume normal service as soon as possible and accept our sincere apologies for the disruption caused.
