Research into Staffordshire Hoard Transforms Archaeological Understanding of Ancient Goldsmith Techniques

The Staffordshire Hoard is undergoing one of the UK’s largest conservation and archaeological research programmes, principally funded by English Heritage. This has provided valuable content for the new Staffordshire Hoard gallery, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, which opens today at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, and will continue to deliver exciting new information over the coming years.

Birmingham Museums has been awarded £398K by the Heritage Lottery Fund for an ambitious project to improve Birmingham’s local history collection. Funding will support new posts within the organisation to carry out a unique collecting project with local community groups.
