Possibly the most famous work in our collection, and certainly one of the most celebrated works of art in the country. The artist himself posed for the painting, along with his partner Emma, and their children Cathy, the fair-haired girl in the background, and Oliver, the baby.

How can I Adopt an Object?

Each object or artwork has a minimum suggested donation for you to make - from £10 to £5,000. As a thank you for your donation, you will receive a variety of benefits including a certificate of adoption, an information sheet on your object, and a fridge magnet photo of your object as a permanent memento. We'll credit you on our website and for the larger donations you will also receive invitations to exclusive Private Viewings and a print of your image.

And, of course, you can come and visit your object at the museum whenever it's on display.
